What Is Mental Health ?
Mental health, or emotional health, is a compilation of our mental processes which include our emotions, our perceptions, our thoughts, and our cognitive functioning. Mental health can also include our behavior – humans use their mental state to guide most of their behaviors. The good news is that mental health awareness is spreading and the stigma of seeking treatment is going away.
Psychiatrists are Physician-MDs that go to medical school for four years, followed by spending four to five years of specialty training in mental health with the ability to evaluate, diagnose, prescribe psychotropic medications, perform psychotherapy, all while providing psychoeducation for all psychiatric disorders. Some other psychiatry tools include : healthy lifestyle counseling, group therapy, family therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT
